Lee Foster

Founder/Lead Storyteller

‘Lee’s ability to weave storytelling artistry with sensitivity has left a lasting impact on our community.’

Silverseed was founded to amplify the voices of people and organizations working to shape a more just, sustainable, and life-affirming world.

Based out of Sonoma County, California, I partner with mission-driven teams to tell stories that are often complex, layered and deeply human. These are stories rooted in real places, real work and real change. With a background in International Relations and Cultural Anthropology, my work began over 20 years ago in the darkroom, where I first recognized the power of imagery as a tool for awareness and advocacy. Through photographic exhibits, I have raised funds, built audiences and supported projects that created meaningful impact in their communities.

Over time, that work evolved into film.

Today, my approach combines professional interviewing, visual storytelling and deep commitment to listening. Creating spaces for people to share their experiences in ways that feel honest, thoughtful and true to who they are is one of my greatest life passions.

A Story-First Approach

Video is a powerful medium, but what matters most is the story behind it. In a time where content is easy to create, authenticity, trust and clarity are essential. My role is not just to create visuals, but to help shape and tell stories that resonate with intention. Because when a story is told well, it has the power to move people to awareness, empathy and action.

I work closely with clients to:

  • Understand the full context behind their work

  • Identify what truly matters in the story

  • Capture real voices and lived experiences

  • Create films that build connection and understanding

My Clients

I collaborate with individuals, organizations, and institutions committed to creating positive change. These are often folks working at the intersection of environment, community, and culture.

This includes:

  • Nonprofits and foundations

  • Public agencies and research teams

  • Small, mission-driven businesses

Many of these projects involve complex subject matter and multiple perspectives, requiring a thoughtful, grounded approach to storytelling. My work is rooted in respect for the people, histories and communities that brought us here. I’m especially committed to supporting projects that honor reciprocal relationships with the natural world, uplift underrepresented voices, and contribute to a more equitable world. It’s a privilege to do this work and I approach each collaboration with care, curiosity and responsibility.
